Samaras’ meeting with Letta in Maximos Mansion
The Italian Prime Minister will not visit the Acropolis in mourning for the accident in Avellino
The response to the economic crisis, the EU presidencies of both countries in 2014 and the TAP gas pipeline will be discussed at the meeting of Antonis Samaras with Prime Minister of Italy Enrico Letta at the Maximos Mansion.
The Italian Prime Minister had pointed out on his twitter account that labor, culture and hope are keywords for the European future, calling Greece a symbol of an EU that must change.
"The main theme will be the future of Europe that must change from what it is today, so that people cease to think of her as a stepmother and punisher and start seeing her as a source of hope," the Italian Prime Minister has said, referring to the content of his talks in Greece.
"I am coming to Athens to encourage the Greek public opinion and to say that there is a Europe that wants to help Greece to help herself."
Enrico Letta came to Athens Sunday afternoon for a two-day visit. PM Antonis Samaras, deputy PM Evangelos Venizelos, but also many ministers welcomed him at the airport.
The Fatal car accident last night at Avellino in southern Italy brought changes in the Italian premier’s program and as a sign of mourning he canceled his planned visit to the Acropolis.
