SYRIZA made a sharp comment on how the Greek government shapes the communicative environment ahead of the meeting with troika, but also for the plans for reducing the public sector, referring both to a need to implement the proposals for relief measures for the socially weak, which Alexis Tsipras unveiled yesterday Monday.
The SYRIZA press office announcement reads: "The Greek government welcomes Troika in a barrage of misleading statements by the Minister of Finance and the director of the Bank of Greece, designed to beautify the dramatic situation of our economy and society. While the government is toying with the strength of businesses and consumers, continually postponing the VAT reduction by associating it with the implementation state of the memorandum program, it is working on measures for dismantling and shrinking the public sector. It is obvious that the impending layoffs of thousands of civil servants will further disrupt the Hellenic state, which the government wants at the service of powerful economic interests and not of the society and its needs. But the demise of the public sector in a time of deep economic recession will exacerbate the phenomena of this humanitarian crisis."
