Yorgos Panagiotakopoulos raises issue of PASOK leadership

Member of the political bureau of PASOK Yorgos Panagiotakopoulos unleashes a fierce attack on Evangelos Venizelos, which he considers as solely responsible for the "current state of annihilation of the party and the miserable struggle to stay within the parliament."

With an open letter to the president and the political council, Panagiotakopoulos believes the leadership change in the PASOK team is necessary, obviously Venizelos’ as well, and that a new strategy and a different political proposal should be outlined to prevent the continuation of denigration and shrinking. He also warns the leading members that "if you continue with these policies and go with this reasoning at the next elections you will sure become unforgettable," implying that PASOK will not even get in parliament.

It is the first time since the conference in February, that a PASOK member criticizes so strongly against the leadership. Panagiotakopoulos talks about a "right wing political mess without beginning or end," for "Ovidian transformations of our policy proposals", accuses the leadership that made PASOK "corollary of the right" and that they became "fellow travelers of Samaras." He also criticizes the leadership for their handling on the issue of the party finances.
