Tension also outside the Employment ministry

Tension currently prevails outside the Employment ministry in Stadiou Str., where members of PAME have occupied the 8th floor and the office of minister Yannis Vroutsis.

The approximately 40 members of PAME, headed by party secretary and executive secretary of PAME Yorgos Perros, left the 8th floor shortly after 12 pm and went to the entrance of the building, where they were surrounded by strong forces of riot police.

Τension prevailed, with police beating the protesters and throwing chemicals to disperse them.

Things got quiet for a while; however, a few moments later tension and incidents prevailed again after the arrest of one demonstrator, resulting in one man being injured.

The protesters are demonstrating against the changes in insurance policies, and especially against yesterday's announcement by Vroutsis that “over the years, the insurance system has been built based on customer perceptions."

According to information, the squatters entered the building unexpectedly, passing the entrance one by one and without a march or other prior notice.
