According to ELSTAT data, unemployment rose to 24.4% in June this year from 17.2% in June 2011 and 23.5% in May 2012.

The unemployed rose to 1,216,410, while the economically inactive population stood at 3,372,097.
The number of employed persons decreased by 358,340 compared to June 2011 (8.7% decrease) and by 34,337 compared to May 2012 (0.9% decrease).
The unemployed people increased by 358,334 compared to June 2011 (41.8% increase) and 50,666 compared to May 2012 (4.3% increase).
The economically inactive, ie people who are not working or looking for work, increased by 20,194 compared to June 2011 (0.6% increase) and 5,251 compared to May 2012 (0.16% increase).
