Venizelos supports the government, attacks SYRIZA

Speaking at the meeting of the PASOK parliamentary group, president Evangelos Venizelos described the only road for the party, namely to support the government and the measures to be taken to ensure the smooth progress of the country. Venizelos attempted to limit the centrifugal trends and controversies expressed in PASOK regarding the passing of harsh new measures.

 

He criticized prime minister Antonis Samaras too, suggesting that he was very slow to make his international contacts that could have been conducted even through teleconferences. He added that the country cannot be dragged into a government crisis and a new period of domestic political uncertainty, and that this does not mean that Samaras can act as a prime minister of a one-party government, which brings its partners before accomplished facts.

 

However, he expressed his satisfaction that the issue of the extension has been put on the table, even on the part of the Troika.

 

Venizelos attacked SYRIZA, which he blamed for its hopeless stance and for investing in the destruction of the country.
