Developments in the arrest of the 29-year-old Anastasios Theophilou for
the robbery at a Paros bank and the murder of 53-year-old taxi driver
Dimitris Michas are staggering,
Police sources say the 29-year-old known to authorities from his involvement with urban guerilla warfare might be the leader of the “Sect of Revolutionaries”.
The matching of evidence came due to the efforts of anti-terrorism director Alkiviadis Tziotis, who took care so the authorities had a sample of DNA from a police raid in a hideout apartment in Agrinio.
The 29-year-old’s past in the anti-authoritarian field
Anastasios Theophilou is an older -whose DNA matching places him in the bank robbery and the murder of the taxi driver in Paros- is an older acquaintance of the police authorities.
He was arrested in Agrinio in December 2010 as he was found in a hideout apartment of the “Sect of Revolutionaries” but was released since there was no evidence against him. Officers believe he might have had a peripheral role in the organization by taking part in the attack support groups. After the arrest of many members of the “Conspiracy of the Cores of Fire”, they believe he was upgraded and took a leading role in the organization; he was possibly a member of the leading team of the “Sect of Revolutionaries”. Officers are trying to decode his past while considering the possibility he was a member of a new urban guerilla warfare group, which could be the reason why he was involved in thieving raids along with his partners in order to support the “revolutionary fund”.
