“Sandwich” plan for the selection of 1,400 members
In a letter sent by the Minister of State Dimitris Stamatis last Thursday, all ministers were informed that they cannot choose at their own will the members of their ministries and public organizations. As stated in the letter, their selection will come directly from the Maximos Mansion.

In order to prevent incidents of cronyism, Antonis Samaras has decided to implement the “sandwich” plan: to put ministers under a supervision by him and his close associates and under the informal supervision of their subordinates in the departments and agencies where they preside. The aim is for the ministers to know that their subordinates, senior members of their departments, were selected by the prime minister's office and that this will act as an informal but important safety valve to prevent outbreaks of corruption.
