Mild letter from Tsipras to the Troika

In the letter he sent to Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso, Herman Van Rompuy, Martin Schultz and Jean-Claude Juncker, the SYRIZA president characterizes the Memorandum as illegalized. According to Mr. Tsipras, with their vote the Greek people politically illegalized the Memorandum due to which Greece was led to being “the only European country in peacetime which in 2012 is now in its fifth consecutive year of deep recession”.

In his letter, Mr. Tsipras emphasizes that simplicity cannot be a solution to the deep recession, underlines that internal devaluation tends to lead to a humanitarian crisis and asks that the framework of the existing strategy be reviewed, since it is not only a threat to social cohesion and stability in Greece, but also a source of instability for the European Union itself and the Eurozone.
