Hellenic Police "sweeping" Exarheia
Many streets in Exarheia are currently blocked as Police have launched an operation to remove people from occupied buildings.

At the request of IKA and by order of the prosecutor, strong police forces evacuated two buildings in Exarchia, at 60-62 Valtetsiou street and the corner of Themistokleous and Arachovis.

Both these buildings had been occupied by anarchists for years. People from the antiauthoritarian sector were living there but lately had left because they knew there would be an operation by the police.

Earlier at the Exarheia Square, officers chased after a group of youths while several checks are taking place around the area.

Police have proceeded to some arrests but so far have made no official announcements.
