Venizelos: I guarantee we will definitely overcome the crisis

"On behalf of PASOK I guarantee we will definitely overcome the crisis", party president Evagelos Venizelos stressed during the first pre-election rally in Nea Smirni on Thursday night.

He said that PASOK wants first place for the mandate to form a government with the forces of responsibility, and stressed the need to establish a large arc of National responsibility, calling on all political parties "to feel the responsibility now."

"We must avoid repeating the political setting of the '30s. The first thing the Greek people need to avoid is a fascist turn in the political scene. PASOK is not afraid to say its name, is not afraid to look Greek people in the eyes," he said at the beginning of his speech.

"The Greek citizens hold their fate in their hands. They will decide who will rule the country and how" he added, and continued by saying that "if what is recorded in the polls is reflected as a political event, then the country will remain ungovernable. If Samaras wants to become Prime Minister, the vast majority of Greeks say: "No, we do not want you to become Prime Minister."

"The Greek citizen asks, "who can guarantee me the day after? "On behalf of PASOK I guarantee we will definitely overcome the crisis. We must protect our country from an 'accident', from the 'wrong' thing, from conflict with reason," he said.

He added that PASOK promises that it will not affect low-income earners and low pensioners and that there will be no new taxes.

"The remaining forces should tell us if they can guarantee the payment of pensions in June," the PASOK president added, while he completed his speech by referring to the elections in France.

"On May 6 we have elections in France too. I send my greetings to François Hollande and wish him good luck," he concluded.
