Football derby interrupted due to violent clashes

Due to extreme clashes with police, the major football derby of the “eternal” rivals, in which Olympiacos had had the lead with 0-1 since the 51st minute, was permanently discontinued at the 83rd minute .

Flares and Molotov cocktails were thrown against police in the area surrounding the Olympic Stadium. Police riot units responded with tear gas.

Fierce clashes between masked supporters and riot police had taken place earlier, with 67 arrests and 4 injured police, two of whom have been moved to the hospital in serious condition.

At halftime, 60-70 people with covered faces created new tension next to the Panathinaikos VIP gates, throwing iron bars at police, who responded with stun and flash grenades.
