DIAS group reinforced directly

With 195 new officers, the special DIAS group is enhanced to combat crime, especially in the center of Athens. , During the beginning of his tenure, Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrisochoidis spoke against Mr. Christos Papoutsis and the situation DIAS was left in, while according to the ministry the action was thought of as “necessary after the revision of operational planning and the guidelines for enhancing police presence”. The same sources state that it is aimed to combat crime in areas where there has recently been increased demand, based on statistics maintained by police services.

In fact, in order to demonstrate that there has been a problem in policing, Police headquarters pointed out that last Friday, the DIAS group comprised 1338 police officers and according to the new plan, it will now consist of 1533 officers, who will gradually increase to 3000.

Specifically, there were 341 DIAS groups in operation on Friday while they will amount to 373 on Monday, of which 110 teams will patrol from 7am till 1am in the streets of downtown Athens.

Also, during the same hours:
- 86 teams will carry out patrols in areas of Northeastern Attica
- 80 teams will patrol throughout West Attica
- 47 groups will patrol in the wider region of Piraeus, and finally
- 50 teams will patrol in Southern Attica.
