PASOK MPs ask for immediate leader election

The PASOK PG meeting is being carried out in a climate of controlled tension, with many MPs requesting the acceleration of the election of the new party leader.

This request was submitted by Vasso Papandreou and Petros Efthymiou, among others, with the former arguing that there should only be one candidate for the leadership. Efthimiou left negative hints about the results of the PASOK government, saying that "although the country was saved, its people were ruined."

Haris Kastanidis said that he will not give carte blanche to any political leader or prime minister to negotiate on anything, if he does not know what is going on.

Luka Katseli rejected the "extortionate dilemmas to vote for the measures that will be agreed over the weekend or the PSI will not close. We all want the unity of our movement. However, it is not forged in terms of friends, but in political terms that meet the problems of society and every citizen for the day after. These are the questions we must answer."

Other MPs appeared skeptical as to their intention to vote on new measures, if they are not completely justified and there is no factual argumentation and efficiency.

Anna Dalara admitted that "it is a fact that we were forced to adopt neo-liberal policies under the threat of default, facing a Europe that did not want to hear of other proposals and adhering to the logic of "cruel punishment" and to a domestic political scene."
