Dangerous weather coming

A rapid deterioration of the weather is expected by meteorologists over the coming hours, characterized by low temperatures, heavy rains and thunderstorms, mainly in the west, the north, the islands of the Northern and Eastern Aegean and Dodecanese.

An urgent statement of dangerous weather phenomena was issued by the weather service, with snowfall on most mountainous and hilly areas, and by Wednesday in the plains of the north. Winds in the seas will reach 9 on the Beaufort scale, while temperatures will exhibit a gradual decline.

On Thursday, the bad weather will continue throughout the country. Heavy snowfall will occur in Central and Eastern Macedonia, Thrace and especially in areas above an altitude of 200 meters.

“Polar” temperatures will occur in Evros, even in lowland areas, while winds will blow N-NE. To the northwest, the temperature will fall even more, with northern winds in the seas reaching as high as 8 or 9 Beaufort.

On Friday the phenomena will be limited to the eastern and southern island areas and they will weaken, but the temperature will generally still be in decline. Northern winds in the Aegean will reach 8 Beaufort.
