IMF welcomes Samaras' letter

After the unofficial reports of the German government officials, the IMF too expressed its satisfaction with the letter sent by ND president Antonis Samaras .

The announcement of the IMF press office reads: "We welcome the fact that New Democracy expressed its support for key objectives and policies of the plan of 110 billion euros in financial support from Greece’s European partners and the Fund."

The Fund believes that ND "is committed to assuring that any changes in policies that might be proposed will be consistent with the basic framework of this program."

During the cabinet meeting at noon, PM Lucas Papademos said he was pleased with Samaras’ letter and had estimated that it will be accepted by the next meeting of the Eurogroup on November 29.
