No new taxes and wage/pension cuts

Papademos wishes to regain the lost dignity of Greece and reduce the deficit, but this time without imposing new taxes or cutting salaries and pensions further.

Sources close to Papademos have said that the new premier believes the policies that have been followed in the past two years have reached their limit and can help no more.

They do not bring positive results any more, nor do they amend social injustices as it is mainly and usually the poor who are called upon to pay harsh taxes instead of the upper classes.

As a matter of fact, Papademos awaits the proposals of his ministers, who should prepare them based on the given ‘no further taxation/cuts’ axis.

Last but not least, Papademos was interested in the plans of the Finance ministry, the officials of which are thinking of even reducing the existing tax rates.
