"Announce immediate redundancies and reserves in the public sector"!

The Troika has requested that the government keep the promise of immediate cost cutting through the dismissal of public officials by Friday; that is, just a few days before their visit to Athens.

As protothema.gr is informed, Messrs. Thomsen, Morse and Masuch told a top government official that “before we arrive in Athens on the 14th-15th of September, the Greek government must have moved on with communiqués in which it will indicate how many public employees must either be fired or put on reserve status through a specific timetable”.

Sources within the European Commission stated to protothema.gr that the Troika is asking for nothing more than the government’s implementation of exactly what it has promised in the past, without any further ambiguities.

Other Brussels sources cited Minister of Finance of Germany, Wolfgang Schäuble’s statements that “the next installment will be given to Greece only through the Troika’s decision and not through a political decision”.
