Preparing for the Troika, the PASOK Conference and the TIF

The central political intervention of Prime Minister George Papandreou will be the subject of his speech at the National Conference of PASOK, while the topic of his speech during the Thessaloniki International Fair will probably be the same.

All this and more was discussed during two meetings with party and government officials that Mr. Papandreou attended since early morning in Parliament. A third meeting with the participation of his ministers is taking place at this time.

Specifically, during the PASOK Conference, Mr. Papandreou will draw a line as to where the country needs to head, while at the same time he will highlight the differences between neoliberal policies and PASOK’s policies.

The Prime Minister and PASOK leader is also wishing to infuse society with a sense of efficiency and certainty.

As regards to his speech in the TIF, the Prime Minister reportedly wants to give it a style of a “national narrative”, since he will be speaking of the country’s progress, current position and future prospects within the international setting.

The PM will also present the government’s work, not as a list of laws but as real changes which ultimately aim at a feeling of political stability within the country, as well as progress.

The establishment of a climate of social justice and law, but also support for changes and the descriptions of goals through dialogue and consultation, are the two other points which will also be included in the Prime Minister’s speech during the TIF.

Last but not least, the PM’s speech during the TIF will include references to the country’s development, while each ministry is preparing specific policies that will lead to job creation and which will also be presented during the TIF.
