Government afraid of social turmoil ahead of the TIF
From this week onward the government is entering a critical phase, both ahead of the TIF (Thessaloniki International Fair) about to take place between the 9th and 11th of September and because of the planned handling of really “hot” social issues, a front where the Greek leadership is not doing its best.
From this week onward the government is entering a critical phase, both ahead of the TIF (Thessaloniki International Fair) about to take place between the 9th and 11th of September and because of the planned handling of really “hot” social issues, a front where the Greek leadership is not
doing its best.
Many are the government officials who foresee the possible creation of a chaotic atmosphere at the opening of the Fair if no solutions to serious state
problems are found in the meantime.
The agenda includes taxi deregulation, discussions with the university community of the country and verbal sparring with public sector employees’ umbrella union ADEDY.
Meanwhile, the government has set its eyes on international developments concerning the financial meltdown that has affected many economies worldwide.
What causes the
greatest concern is Germany’s refusal to issue Eurobonds, a stance which puts a halt to hopes for a betterment
of the current European picture.
Nevertheless, the PM George Papandreou will continue his meetings with EU leaders, never losing hope that things will start developing at a faster pace.
