Mid-Term fiscal programme vote on Wednesday

The debate on the government's Medium-Term Fiscal Strategy Programme 2012-2015 will be concluded during a Parliament plenary session at noon on Wednesday, followed by a vote in the 300-member unicameral house, while the vote on the fiscal programme's implementation law will be held at noon on Thursday.

A heated three-day debate on the plan commenced on Monday, the ratification of which has been set by the Eurozone and IMF as a condition for the continued financing of Greece.

The programme will be put to a vote in Parliament on Wednesday amidst reactions by the opposition and trade unions and a 48-hour strike in protest against the austerity measures and the Medium-Term programme, as well as the planned privatisations of certain state utilities and organisations that was launched on Tuesday.

The discussion on the implementation law opens in Parliament's standing committee on economic affairs on Tuesday morning, to be completed on the same day, while the debate on the bill will begin on Wednesday afternoon and be  completed at noon on Thursday with a vote
