For the first time in a long while, the government seems to have attained a certain confidence as concerns the ratification of the mid-term program for the Greek economy, which will normalize our borrowing for some time.

According to information, members of the leading party estimate the losses in the PASOK PG can be limited to two MPs, which is the aim of Maximos Mansion, in order to avoid any negative political consequences in the future. Naturally, there have been some pessimistic approaches regarding more dissidents, but also some optimistic estimates about the losses being reduced to just one and the mid-term being ratified by MPs from other parties, mainly the Democratic Alliance, or New Democracy even, and thus create a wider majority than that of the PASOK PG concerning the program.

However, the efforts to dissuade Alekos Athanasiadis and Thomas Robopoulos are continuing, with the latter looking more vulnerable to government pressure in the past few days. Chrissa Arapoglou is expected to ultimately approve the program, while there doesn’t seem to be any serious concern about Panagiotis Kouroublis’ stance, despite the fact that he is trying to maintain the suspense about his final decision.

On the other hand, Maximos Mansion is assured regarding the affirmative votes of one or even two ND MPs, with Elsa Panopoulou being at the top of the list.

It seems that Thomas Robopoulos, the MP from Thessaloniki, is favorably inclined, although he hasn’t expressed his final decision yet.

Talking on SKAI’s morning show he said, “I will decide at the last minute after hearing all speakers. I was moved by Papandreou and Venizelos and will decide during the vote”, and added, “It’s a crucial moment. We will go bankrupt if the mid-term does not get voted and I cannot make such a decision. Let Samaras make it”.
