“We are claiming our lives!”
Indignant citizens of all ages are gathering in Syntagma Square and calling on the politicians to take the memorandum and leave. “I came here to protest about my future and my life”, declares a girl in front of the protothema.gr camera.

Yesterday, for the 6th day in a row, more than 10.000 Indignant citizens showed up at Syntagma Square, sending a loud message to all those who undermine their future and the future of their children.

“Above all, I am claiming my life and the future of my children. I demand that the Troika leave and that we don’t pay our debt”, says one protester.

“Where will our children and our grandchildren live? In which Greece? They are taking our money, robbing us in cold blood. This is why we are here and we won’t leave”, declares an Indignant but determined lady.

“We are claiming our lives, a better future and all that was stolen from us. We believe we can make a difference as long as we are willing to do so”, says another protester, who is inviting all those who are watching the developments from their couch to take to the streets!

“I want the political junta to leave, because this is what we have, a political junta. As Mikis Theodorakis said, these people are governing after a coup d'état. We have a coup d'état government. I want real democracy and the freedom to think freely, to be able to create and imagine a Greece that I want and not the country they present to me”, says a disappointed young man.

“Things are really difficult. They made us go out on the streets, reaching our limits. They have destroyed everything. We have a prime minister who doesn’t know how to do his job. There must be blood, there must be war”, a female student argues.

With flags from Spain and Egypt

Some Indignant citizens were approaching Syntagma Square holding flags from Spain and Egypt.

“We took over from Spain because they, too, are fighting against poverty in their country, so this is why our intervention is symbolic and meaningful”, says a young protester to protothema.gr.

Another protester holding the Egyptian flag said: “Egypt started it all. The Egyptians stood up in very difficult circumstances under a very tough regime and taught the entire world that you can win you battles peacefully and that bloodshed occurs because of the authorities and not the people. This is why we stand so confidently against the police, who for the first time are not breaking up such a large gathering. This is the lesson we learned from the Egyptians and we are bringing it here. We symbolically thank them for being at the forefront and leading the whole Mediterranean into uprisings”.
