Samaras meets the President of the Republic

After the Prime Minister’s public invitation for collaboration and a positive attitude from the other political parties, leader of ND Antonis Samaras is trying to juggle both sides.

He has to handle pressures from the EU, the “blackmail” dilemma of the government, but also the condescending voices of his own party members. Mr.Samaras clarified he will not issue a blank check and of course, he won't be voting for the government program in its totality. Yet, he might vote for certain aspects of legislation such as the selling of public companies and property.

In his statement, he characterized the economic policy of the government as “futile” and wrong. He gave the example of the deficit, which will remain at 10% for 2011, and said that he won't be supporting measures that have been proven to harm the people.

The meeting with Mr.Papoulias lasted for 40 minutes and Mr.Samaras informed him on his proposals about the economy.
