"Most of the people want us to continue as planned"

Mr.Papandreou met with the President of the Republic Mr.Papoulias to discuss the current situation. Among many things, the PM characteristically said that “it is necessary that the struggle for change in the country continues through tough decisions.”

Referring to internal leaks, the PM noted that PASOK’s answer is persistence, determination and calm. Mr.Papoulias, in return, mentioned that this is a very grave national issue, and we all need to work towards the goals set.

In the press conference, Mr.Papandreou declared that “Greece is at a pivotal point and the crushing majority is asking us to continue the change. We are taking decisions, on which I informed the President, and we are guaranteeing an exit from the crisis, but also a future economy that will be viable and fair.

The Prime Minister also held discussions with his Ministers in the usual meeting that took place earlier at Mr.Papandreou’s initiative. There he asked for a common line of approach, especially after the incident involving Mr.Loverdos on Monday.
