New measures in April

The current situation in the Greek government is very difficult  and it is all due to the lack of funds. Everything is riding on the sale of public property. Sources from the Ministry of Finance are hoping to find “hidden treasures” in the Public Service Companies. According to the sources, the first evaluation of the property owned by this company reaches 8 billion euros. The income from those sales will lower the debt and will give a leeway to the government to re-invest. When the committee adojursn this coming Wednesday, the issue of how to use this property will be discussed.

The same source is expressing thoughts on the creation of a Fund that will deal with this property.

New measures of 1,8 billion euros this year

The sources went on to comment that due to the fact that we didn’t reach our March goal for revenue, there will be new measures taken that will be announced in the coming months.

The dialogue with the other parties and relevant organizations has begun and there have been specific letters sent to the Ministries involved. There will be teams in every Ministry, all linked to the Ministry of Finance, and together with 5 accountants there will be new rules and measures - all in accordance with the Ministry. Furthermore, there will be a policy of “red limits”, meaning that payrolls and pensions will not be attacked again, and neither will new taxes burden citizens with lower incomes. By mid-May we will have definite answers.
