Philosopher Jacques Rancière in Athens on Monday
French philosopher Jacques Rancière, favorite of French politician Ségolène Royal, is visiting Athens this Monday on the occasion of the publication of his book “Hatred of Democracy” in Greek.

French philosopher Jacques Rancière, favorite of French politician Ségolène Royal, is visiting Athens this Monday on the occasion of the publication of his book “Hatred of Democracy” in Greek.
Born in Algiers in 1940, he is a professor of Philosophy at the University of Paris. He became known for “Reading Capital” which he published with another known philosopher, Louis Althusser.
The areas on which he has been focusing lately are mainly about human rights, and recently he has expressed «revolutionary» opinions about the Art world, most famous of which is his version of the «aesthetic theory».
His talk takes place on Monday January 24, at 18:30, at the S. Karagiorgos hall in the Panteion University, and he will be introduced by Giannis Stavrakakis.
