UPD:
New evidence is being collected by the Electronic Crime Unit on the scam against IKA. The losses incurred by this scam seem to be over 100 million euro. According to the scam plan, employers would file false reports, take the employment stamps and then sell them in the black market. The whole scam seems to have lasted for more than three years.
The scam network was discovered last August by IKA's auditing mechanism. who immediately called upon the Electronic Crime Unit to initiate an investigation. During the course of said investigation, evidence showed that the perpetrators had networks in Athens, Salonica, Xanthi, Sidirokastro, Ioannina, Katerini and many other cities.
According to IKA data and newly found evidence by the ECU, the network comprised accountants, lawyers and construction companies. There are also strong clues hinting at the involvement of IKA employees, who are still under investigation. Some of the people involved filed tax reports of only 800-euro monthly salaries, while they were found to possess Porsches and other luxury cars. In Xanthi, it was revealed that an individual owned three Mercedes luxury vehicles.
GSEE is requesting that these perpetrators are punished severely and made an example of: "The political leadership and the management of IKA have been allowing this to happen since 2005, when the people involved kept looting IKA, OAED and other funds. When will the law of political accountability be passed? Will everyone in management be investigated? Will anyone pay for the criminal oversights against the public interest and the people insured by IKA?".
