#Violence against a #child is unacceptable, and the punishment must be severe. The President of Uzbekistan has signed a law introducing amendments to five codes and six laws. Anyone who causes harm or pain to a child will be held accountable — from employees of educational institutions to relatives who commit #violence. There will be no leniency for any crime that results in the death of a minor. From now on, anyone who commits #sexualviolence against a child under the age of 14 will face up to 25 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment. No statute of limitations will apply to such crimes. A child’s safety cannot depend on circumstances. Anyone who violates the life, health, or dignity of children must know that they will not escape severe punishment.
