They’re looking for money, when they gave away 732mil in 2009!

The tax revenue of our country seems like a magic picture, since only in 2009 and for various reasons the tax offices crossed off 732mil euros from the confirmed revenue that the state should have pocketed.

All this while the ministry of Finance is pushing for a special process of debt crossing off from the total of 32bil euros of the accumulated uncollected debts (especially after 2004), arguing that… in Greece there is no proper procedure for “liquidation” of irrecoverable requirements.  

As the report of the Audit Committee for the state budget shows, in 2009 tax offices and customs were assured a total revenue of 90bil euros. 731,9mil were crossed off either with “completions” during ND administration, or after suggestions of the relevant offices, once utter failure to recover was detected (due to death, bankruptcy etc.).

Finally just above half was received, about 50,5bil. But even about a quarter of that remained in state funds; after tax returns, the total state revenue was just 33,5bil, which means 56,78% of the whole.

According to the Audit Committee, the state received 63,87% from confirmed and immediate taxes , while for the rest of the state revenue, the rate didn’t exceed 22% (just 1 in 5 confirmed euros).

Besides completions, the state could not receive the revenue it had expected from fees, royalties on unremunerated missions and land registries, etc., as well as the profits of companies and organizations.
