UPD:
Pressure against government MPs was crowned with overwhelming success,
since the Members who reacted against the new measures voted “For” them.
Specifically, the new law on the special tax was voted for by 154 PASOK MPs, including Elsa Papadimitriou, while the opposition MPs voted against it.
Please note that until the last minute, the House Chairman Phillipos Petsalnikos, had personally taken it unto himself to bring the “suspicious” parliament Members to their senses, including Mr. Yiannis Vouros, Vasillis Kegkeroglou, Vasillis Tolkas, Chetin Mantazi and Mrs. Olga Tente Rentari. The outcome of Mr. Petsalnikos’ mission was successful, since there were no “leaks”.
Earlier, Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos announced that through a last-minute adjustment, public hotel areas are exempt from the levy, while a New Democracy party parliamentary spokesman also requested that tourist accomodations also be exempt.
