PM Mitsotakis up 2 points to 11% in credibility over Tsipras: ALCO poll

New Democracy holds an 8.3% lead against SYRIZA

Newsroom October 18 08:19

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis maintains a clear lead over Alexis Tsipras in the reliability index, according to the second part of the Alco poll presented today in the main Alpha news bulletin.

The prime minister’s difference now stands at 11 points (from 9 in the September measurement) as 31% of citizens stated that they trust him more as prime minister compared to 20% who express their preference for the official opposition leader.

The strengthening of the prime minister’s credibility profile follows the poll findings regarding the vote intention among the valid ones (0.6% since September) where New Democracy holds an 8.3% lead against SYRIZA, according to Alco.

Mitsotakis appears better able to deal with the ongoing crises including the energy crisis, high prices, and Greek-Turkish relations than Alexis Tsipras.

Especially on national issues, 43% of respondents believe that the PM can handle them better, compared to 17% garnered by the president of SYRIZA.

According to the Alco poll, the battle of the parties in the run-up to the 2023 elections will be in the center as 23% of undecided voters say they come from the center, 6% from the center-right, and 11% from the center-left.
