Tax offices under siege from Monday!

Many tax offices in the country are expected to be “under siege” this Monday, as thousands of citizens have not yet received the traffic tax badge, while the next day marks the expiration of the extension for the completion.

The ministry of Economy says that it has finished sending the almost 7mil traffic tax badge notification;, however, this was delayed due to the need to add the so-called “green fees”.

Thus, the completion of the dispatches coincided with the increased seasonal traffic at ELTA, resulting in thousands of car owners not receiving their badges and rushing to tax offices as the deadline expires on December 31. And for those who obtain the badge after the 31st, the fine will be equal to the fee…

The situation is expected to become even more suffocating, since on Tuesday the deadline for entering the completion process expires, a process which the ministry of Economy has been counting on considerably in order to keep the deficit below the double-digit limit.

Until the end of November taxpayers were charged with 1.2bil euro, while 700mil were collected through the completion.

The process was extended until December 28 for the total of sub-cases within it, as well as for the many cases of mistakes on the initial tax notes.
