The backdoor has been located, and it’s our national need for cash. So,
our sparring partners and neighbors who want to exploit a rare
opportunity in the guise of investments and the national conciliation
climate which is being cultivated, are buying Greek land, and why shouldn't they? And after some time, with the property titles in hand, they claim that these are «grey national zones».
One of the best selling books recently in Greece is that about the teacher and Turkish Foreign Minister Mr. Ahmed Davutoglu, entitled “Strategic Depth”, which depicts the neo-Ottoman dogma: occupation through economy, diplomacy and other means, of “living space” for the Turks in Central Asia and the Balkans.
And now, through the activity of Turkish real estate and according to our information, other international companies that conceal the “bad Turkish wolf», our neighbors are wishing to exploit our need; which means they will spend money to buy islets as well as large areas in islands such as Mykonos, Rhodes and other diamonds of the Agean.
Especially, as we present today, Turkish businessmen – representatives of the Turkish establishment, as the Turkish newspaper «Yeni Safak», but also the financial insert of «Haberturk», «Haberturk Economi», report - are interested in buying 18 Greek islets and areas in Mykonos, Rhodes and other islands. The purpose of the Turks is “tourist development”.
And as Bariskent real estate CEO, Baris Aydin, says: «During this serious financial crisis, the Greek government has chosen to sell or rent on a long term basis18 islands to find money to repay its debts».
This particular statement was made right after the disclosure of our newspaper – more specifically, on December 12 - of the plan between KED and the ministry of Finance to sell islets.

They are covered by offshore companies
Mr Aydin is the person saying that «Greek islands interest me» while at the same time, according to our information major British real estate agencies are working for the Turks, who are eyeballing areas in our country, especially islets.
However, right here lies the great dange,r as many Turkish businessmen are hidden behind offshore companies, resulting in the sale of Greek land, but without us knowing where it will end up.
We must say that among the «filets» of land inspected by our neighbors is the Nafsika islet, which was mentioned a couple of weeks ago in our newspaper.
At the same time, information from the real estate sector stresses that «the Greek government has not set a 'red line' for islets for now, which according to the law could lead to selling due to the crisis».
On the other hand, Giorgos Petalotis has confirmed that the Nafsika islet could be sold, but KED agents laconically state that «we will not sell areas or islets of the eastern Aegean».
It must be noted here that Baris Aydin argues that a group of Turkish businessmen is interested in buying the 18 islets «because there is a serious prospect of development to attract tourists of high income levels».
