They are implicating us in the embassy explosions

Panic in Rome after continuous bomb explosions in two trapped packages sent to the Swiss and Chilean embassies on Thursday afternoon. Two were injured, one of them seriously.

The special anti-terrorist unit of Rome has begun an investigation into the case, which is classified as a terrorist attack.

According to the Italian media, the Swiss embassy explosion is connected with the 58-year old Swiss anarchist, Marco Camenisch, who is considered to be a prominent figure in the anarcho-ecologist movement.

According to "La Republica", Greek or Swiss anarchists who seek Camenisch's release are possibly behind the attack.

The Swiss representative, Lars Knussel, commented that until now, no one has assumed responsibility for the attacks.

The first explosion in the Swiss embassy resulted in severe injury for one employee. The 53-year-old Swiss embassy employee was moved to hospital by security forces, while sources claim that they might sever his left arm.

Carabinieri forces arrived at the embassy. The attack took place only two days after authorities found an explosive device in Rome's Underground.

After the Swiss attack, an explosion took place in the Chilean embassy in the center of Rome, near Via Veneto, causing another person's injury.

According to the Ukrainian embassy, no explosive elements were found in the suspicious package that had arrived at their doorstep.

Silvio Berlusconi is due to have meetings on these matters with his Minister of Domestic affairs, Roberto Maroni.
