According to sources, the Board of the institution is going to dismiss 45 elderly people, asking their relatives to collect them as soon as possible.
The President of the home, Archibishop Prokopios, admitted that the very bad financial state of the institution and the fact employees have not been paid for 5 months, are factors forcing him to reduce the number of people being taken care of. by the 250 individuals working there, and the state has been called in to solve the problem. The income of the institution has decreased significantly (by 1/3) due to the crisis. It all came from property that the institution owns and rents out (an income that reached 360,000 euros)
The decision of the President has caused outrage from relatives and many politicians.
