will occur in two waves and will bring an increase of profit for the
Ministry of up to 80 mil. euros. New pricing for all tickets and a fight
against free-ride passengers are among the plans of the Ministry.
The first wave of employees to be transfered is for all part-time staff and clerks and the second wave will be for employees that are in key positions but might be more useful in new organisations that will occur after the merge of public transport companies.
There will be a re-evaluation of unified tickets for all routes and for the 90-minute ticket that exist today.
OASA will become a bigger organisation for the whole of Attica. Companies that service the network will merge and new rules and programmes will be implemented for grants.
For 2011, should the measure be implemented on time, losses will be reduced by 244 mil. euros, a sum that translates to 88 mil. euros to the general income of the State and 164 mil. to the expenses.
The continuous loss of public transport organisations has led to grants of a total of 728 mil. euros, (for the last 6 years) with no accurate knowledge of where this money went. At the same time the loans from banks more than doubled from 1,160 mil. euros to 2,576 mil. euros in 2009.
