«Beautiful Panepistimiou» coffee house

This Sunday December 12th, in the second temporary transformation of Panepistimiou into one big sidewalk, the street will be full of tables where coffee from the nearby shops will be served, along with many cultural happenings, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The team of the ministry, under vice minister Spiros Vougias' orders, is working hard on a program that will contain actions for kids, theatrical and cultural happenings and live shows with famous music artists, in an attempt to attract more people, as the previous attempt was thought of as a bit «nerveless».

«People were walking around somewhat aimlessly» the vice minister says, contending that this next action will have to be framed with various cultural shows to attract the people and make them understand how Panepistimiou will look like when it gets rid of all the noisy cars.

According to him, this is a «rehearsal for the future» since Panepistimiou will be a pedestrian way from Syntagma to Omonia, with only the tramline continuing its route to Patision str. These plans will bring great traffic changes in the center, since Akadimias will become one way towards Omonoia and Stadiou one way towards Syntagma.
