Athens is licking its wounds yet again
Calm returns to Athens, the roads open up again

A total of 25 arrests have been made today during the protests taking place in memory of 15 year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos.
The arrested persons have been transported to the Police Headquarters downtown, where they will be questioned on their part in the fights that broke out during the protests.
According to the Hellenic Police, the situation in Athens has calmed down. The roads are being cleared of debris and obstacles so that they can be opened up again.
Earlier today, the battlefield between balaclava-wearing protesters and Special Police forces had moved outside the Polytechnic university of Athens, after the march dedicated to the memory of the 15-year-old had ended.
Helmet-wearing protesters were seen inside the Polytechnic university. Meanwhile, tear gas was used by police forces in their clash against violent protesters on Patision Blvd., Tositsa Str. and Stournari Str.
Monday afternoon was marked by protests outside the Parliament building, also including tear gas use. The air was suffocating and the subway systems were shut down for the remainder of the protests.

Protesters threw rocks against the police lineup and the latter responded with tear gas. Later on, the clashes moved to Patision Blvd. where protesters destroyed shops along the way, as well as cars and trash bins.
The educational rally took place before the clashes. It began at 4pm around Propylaea. More than 3000 people took part in the rally.
Youngsters from the anarchist movements burnt down a bus stop in Propylaea and created roadblocks with burning trash bins.
Moreover, they launched rocks and bricks against police.
Once more, the clash moved onwards towards Stadiou Blvd. and Emm. Mpenaki Str. around the Titania Hotel, and spilled over towards Omonoia plaza.
While the protesters were destroying a phone booth, police were responding to their attackers with the use of more tear gas and flash bang grenades.
One person was injured during the clashes between Aiolou Str. and Stadiou Blvd. Earlier on, unknown protesters injured a civilian slightly, thinking he was an undercover police officer.
One woman went into shock due to a flash bang grenade.
The skirmishes between police and protesters started early on, between Stadiou and Aiolou, with youngsters throwing debris and smashing cars, while police responded in their typical way through the use of LTL chemicals.
Many student protests also took place in cities around the country.
