Damages to cultivation in Peloponnese and Central Greece
Intense rain and hail fell on Sunday damaging crops and orchards in many parts of the country
Half an hour of almond-sized pellets of hail damaged cultivations in several villages on Argive plain and Central Greece, especially apricot and olive trees, vines, and some citrus trees.
Today inspectors of the agricultural insurance agency (ELGA) will visit the affected areas to assess the damage and begin compensation proceedings for producers.
In the region of Ilia, hail and strong winds caused great damages on regions of Amaliada, mainly on apricot crops, olives, vegetables, vinelike plants and even citrus crops. In Central Greece damages were caused in vegetable crops by intense hail.
