We do not plan a third bailout of Greece, EU official says

Eurozone is not preparing for a third bailout and therefore a third memorandum for Greece and will consider it only if specifically requested from Athens, something that has not happened so far, a senior EU official said Thursday according to Reuters.
 
Instead, Eurozone focuses on the timing and size of overdue loan tranches that have already been agreed with the first two bailouts, the official directly involved in the Greek rescue added.
 
In February, German media reported that Berlin was preparing for the likelihood of Eurozone having to support Greece with an additional loan of 10 billion to 20 billion euros. However, when asked if there are plans for new funding toward Greece in 2015 and 2016, he said, "there was no such discussion in our circles, the current program is until the end of 2014."
 
Regarding the imminent Greek exit to the markets he commented, "I cannot think, honestly, what the discussions of Greek authorities will be when they look at the market rates and feel obliged or free to begin building a yield curve through successive placements of bonds. Something that may possibly happen in the not too distant future."
 
Investors have become more enthusiastic about buying bonds of Eurozone countries that have been bailed-out by the Eurozone, like Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Cyprus, Reuters says.
 
"So far, there are very favorable funding conditions for all these countries. Certainly everyone should make use of this very favorable environment," the official said, adding that the time for Greece is very positive, but this is something for the Greek government to consider.
