Venizelos: Our partners must understand that the situation in Greece has changed
He said that the primary surplus will restore social injustices and contribute to social cohesion
Exiting the Maximos Mansion after meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras government vice president and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos expressed his optimism that there will be a final agreement with the troika until the next Eurogroup.
Venizelos stressed that the first half of 2014 is very dense and should pay back for the sacrifices of the Greek people in spite of those who invest in the existence of the financial crisis, adding that the primary surplus will restore social injustices and contribute to social cohesion.
Asked about the recent statements of the Finnish Commissioner Olli Rehn on the primary surplus, Venizelos refused to answer directly, but said that stereotypes for Greece are being disproved, he called the partners of Greece to study the financial figures and added that they must understand that the situation in Greece has changed.
In relation to the dramatic events in Ukraine, he said the territorial integrity and security of the citizens should be ensured and that there must be an effort for a democratic solution from all the forces in the country.
He also said that Ukraine is important for the European continent and for this reason the Greek Presidency cooperates with the head of the European diplomacy, Catherine Ashton, in order to find a solution. It is estimated that the coming period Venizelos intends to travel to Kiev either with Ashton, or accompanied by foreign ministers of the EU countries.
Venizelos did not fail to add that the priorities of Greece are compatible with those of Europe.
