The foreign policy of Greece is "lazy", the Foreign Relations Council says
ECFR argues this is due to cuts in funding for developmental assistance abroad and the criticism of the European Commission for the bilateral agreement with Russia in the energy sector
The investigation of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) for the performance of EU countries in foreign policy in 2013 says Greece is "lazy", mainly due to the cuts of funds allocated to developmental assistance abroad, and the criticism from the European Commission for the bilateral agreement with Russia in the energy sector.
France and Britain are at the top of the list, displacing Germany from first to third place, which, along with Greece, fails in four of the parameters examined in the survey. Greece records the worst performances in the energy issue with Russia, the increase in the developmental and humanitarian aid and the "steps to help refugees from Syria."
Greece is not considered a "leader" in any category while in 2012 it had failed in five categories.
The European Union as a whole seems that have fared well in terms of relations with the U.S. on issues of Iran and trade, its enlargement to the Western Balkans and the issues of disarmament and arms trade.
Conversely, it records the worst record in the issue of Syria, the relations with the U.S. for the protection of personal data and the protection of human rights and the rule of law in Turkey and Turkey's relations with on the Cyprus dispute.
