Problems with Filippidis’ extradition to Greece
Ankara wants Turks detained in Greece in exchange of former TT President - Second arrest warrant for Filippidis complicates things even more

A thrilling negotiation is taking place regarding Angelos Filippidis’ extradition to Greece, as apparently the case has encountered problems between the Greek and Turkish authorities.

According to the "Ethnos" newspaper, Ankara wants to exchange the former President of the Hellenic Postbank with two MIT agents and a Kurd who are detained in Greece accused of terrorism.

As the article reports, one the arrest of two Turkish Kurds in Thessaloniki 24 hours ago, aged 49 and 51 years, for whom Interpol had a pending signal is not a random one. The two men were eventually released on bail, while the Judicial Council of Thessaloniki will decide whether they will be extradited to Turkey by the end of February.

As for Angelos Filippidis, the next few days will tell if there will be an eventual agreement, possibly with concessions from both sides.
