Merkel: If Greece had left the euro we would all have followed soon
As long as I remain Chancellor of Germany I will help out the world, Merkel reportedly said at the Summit on December 19

If Greece had left the euro then all members of the currency union would later follow the same path, German Chancellor Angela Merkel reportedly said at the Summit on December 19, according to Le Monde.

Citing conversations in its position, the French newspaper says Merkel spoke about Greece and the decisions taken on its future and allegedly said "we discussed whether Greece should leave the euro and I think if it had happened we would all follow suit at a later time."

According to the report, Merkel was quoted as saying that as long as she remains Chancellor of Germany she will help the world warning however that she cannot be sure if she could do it a second time, because of the reaction of German citizens. "This can be derailed at some point," she added.
