Germany: New memorandum for Greece, a representative of the Social Democrats says
A few days after reaching an agreement with Merkel's party for a coalition government Social Democrat parliamentary spokesman Carsten Schneider appears clear with his statements to the Financial Times about the possibility of a new memorandum for Greece.

"It is clear there will be a new aid program under conditions," Schneider said recalling that the Social Democrats had offered similar support to Merkel at the height of the crisis in 2011-2012.

And as he explained the attitude of his party "it would have been very popular for Germany if it had disagreed with the European support programs. We defended the agreement because we had to show that we support Europe." But he added that this support has its limits, citing the refusal of eurobonds by SPD on the grounds that voters do not agree.

And the article concludes with the question: Is SPD still a party of European solidarity? "Yes, we want the political and economic union, but not at any cost," Snyder replied.
