Lagarde and Rehn: «Troika will not return if Greece is not ready for a deal»

The informal negotiation between the Greek government and its partners is in full development and at a critical point. There has been intervention in recent days by IMF head Christine Lagarde and Olli Rehn to Athens, so that the Greek government and the Troika reach an agreement before the end of the year, transcending their differences in auctions and collective layoffs, according to information cited by "Kathimerini" newspaper.

As the newspaper writes, Lagarde and Rehn said that Troika ‘will not come for a third time if the Greek side is not ready,’ exerting pressure on the Greek government for an agreement and fueling scenarios that the auditors heads will not come to Athens next Monday.

This means that Merkel's recent exhortation to close the deal so as not to burden Greece when it takes over the EU presidency only works for the Greek side as the representatives of the country’s lenders do not seem to change their attitude.
