4,000 layoffs from ERT, defense industries and perjurer employees
Shutdown of state agencies from January - Small and medium public agencies will shutdown like ERT to complete the 11,000 civil servants to be fired next year
Following the meeting of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the Thomsen group, an Administrative Reform Ministry chief agent said that by the end of the year there will be 4,000 layoffs, which will include those laid off from defense industries, perjurer employees and former ERT employees.
According to Mitsotakis’ partner the function of disciplinary councils that determine whether the perjury public employees will be laid off permanently from their services will accelerate until the end of the year.
The most important news however is for the 11,000 layoffs of civil servants which according to the Memorandum must be done in 2014. According to what the Administrative Reform Ministry agent said the state agencies that will shut down will not be cleared by the method of "sudden death." However, the process of "sudden death" that was followed in the case of ERT will be implemented in small and medium-sized state agencies to complete the number of 11,000 civil servants that must stop being paid by the state next year.
Mitsotakis’ partner said that the Troika gave an informal extension for the completion of the second mobility wave of 12,500 civil servants until the first months of 2014.
He added that the Ministry of Administrative Reform has no "red cards" and that the Thomsen group acknowledged the progress on structural initiatives such as the issues of superiors in positions of responsibility.
At today's meeting the Troika members reportedly raised for the first time the issue of contract employees working on temporary court rulings. They are about 4.000 to 6.000 whose contracts have expired but are still working on temporary injunctions. It has not been clarified whether they will be included to the number of employees that will be laid off.
