Stournaras and Troika will meet again Tuesday
Greece’s creditors demanded new figures - Both sides keep their cards close - The negotiation will last the whole month, MOF sources say
The Troika auditors will not reveal their intentions, at least not until next Tuesday when they are expected to return to the Finance Ministry for a new meeting with minister Yannis Stournaras.
Today’s meeting with the representatives of Greece’s creditors for the revenue performance and economics of the Funds in order for Troika to assess the budgetary gap of 2014, was completed a while ago and lasted nearly four hours.
According to a top executive of the ministry they did not discuss the budgetary gap and new measures for 2014, however, reportedly figures were mentioned entered and apparently they are in Greece’s favor.
However, the auditors appear to be stalling, calling constantly for new figures by the ministry, which also shows that the data Troika is constantly asking for are not accepted as sufficient.
Essentially, both sides start from a different basis and cannot agree because the auditors ask for concrete measures of measurable performance, while the Greek economic team argues they will not be needed in 2014 because they hope for a favorable development in figures and measures.
According to sources, it seems that discussions will take a long time and indeed may even last beyond the end of November, with a break only on Thursday, November 14, on the day of the Eurogroup meeting, which Troika will attend.
Earlier, Stournaras had met with Staikouras, Mavraganis and Theocharis to study the latest meeting details.
