Athens belies Reuters for Troika visit

According to the agency the cause of delay is the inability to reach an agreement on how to cover the fiscal gap

The Greek MoF refutes information and insists that Troika will come to Athens on Monday evening and on Tuesday it will have a meeting with finmin Yannis Stournaras. Bringing up this topic may aim at a different type of "games abroad," around the case of the Greek debt, partners of the minister said.

Earlier, with an emergency telegram from Brussels, Reuters broadcasted that the 'Troika’s planned visit in Athens for early November troika is postponed because of failure to reach an agreement with the Greek government to cover the fiscal gap, which according to Troika reaches 2 billion euros, while according to the Greek side does not exceed 500 million.'

A Eurozone official said the differences between Greece and the Troika have expanded and that the auditors’ return is currently postponed. ‘The Greeks say they fulfill their obligations and Troika that new steps are needed to close the budget.’

According to the Reuters publication the Greeks cannot tolerate any more harsh measures. ‘After six years of recession that wiped out 40% of households and incomes and shot unemployment at 28%, the Greeks say enough is enough. The Greek coalition government rejects any horizontal cuts, arguing that it has managed to reduce the budget deficit like no other country in the Eurozone.’
